Two months ago we brought you the news that the ABC-aired 2014 series Forever – starring Ioan Gruffudd, Alana de la Garza, and Judd Hirsch – was being prepared for DVD release. Show creator Matt Miller had said back then on Twitter that the set, “will be released in states pre-Xmas and int’t after Jan 1!”

Now we’ve gotten word from the studio that Forever will be released in the United States via the Warner Archive Collection, as an MOD (manufacture on demand) title, available in the near future. Will it be out before Christmas, though, as Miller has said? No, sorry, it won’t make it under the tree. Our contact with the Warner Archive informs us that this item won’t be available until 2016. A specific date for this MOD release in the States has not yet be finalized.

However, things are a bit different north of the border. Warner Home Entertainment of Canada hasn’t officially announced the title yet, but this morning we received word from our friends up north, in Canada’s home video retail industry, that the first (and only) season of Forever will be available in stores on DVD beginning January 19th in Canada. Package art, pricing and details aren’t available yet, however, since the studio has not made it official.

Nor is box art, cost or detailed info available for the State-side Warner Archives release, either. But this split-method release between the two countries isn’t the first of its type: Mom – The Complete 2nd Season – an award-winning sitcom currently airing on the CBS network – was similarly released differently in each country just this past month, with the releases in each nation two weeks apart from each other. It’s possible that the USA and Canadian release dates of Forever will also be on different dates, but that’s yet to be determined.
